Stay The Course, Stay Humble

There are plenty of great leadership examples out there, all with different approaches and styles. Neither of those things create success, they are just how someone chooses to lead. As you grow into your leadership things will continue to evolve, change, progress. The more you learn and are teachable, the more your leadership grows, but the big question you need to ask yourself, would you follow you?

While the question seems simple in context, step back and really think about it. There are a lot of questions you should ask yourself through your journey but this is the one that really puts into perspective the need for continued growth.

Your only answer to this question should be no. If you say that you would follow yourself you have stopped your growth, you are not looking to expand your horizons. People follow leaders not because a leader knows they should be followed, but a leader is too involved in helping those around them to be concerned with why they are being followed.

It is easy to lose sight of what is important, especially when receiving a promotion or get a new position at a higher level than you were previously. Even owners, CEO's can lose sight when they become very successful. Staying humble is not easily done when you achieve certain levels of success, but it is what separates leaders from everyone else.

No matter where you are at in your career, in your life, remember, there was a time that you needed a great leader to help propel you to the next level. Stay humble.
